KITCHENER - The recent rotating postal strikes and the annual pre-Christmas shopping binge are behind a big jump in business for a local startup that provides same-day parcel delivery for retailers.
In the past month, Envoi delivered 10,000 packages, up from 140 when it launched in April, said Marcello Tommasi, one of three founders.
"So it was a bit of an uptick in business," said Tommasi.
Based in the University of Waterloo's Velocity incubator in the Tannery building in downtown Kitchener, Envoi does deliveries for several retailers, including Loop Clothing in Waterloo, Factory Shoe in Kitchener and Well.ca in Guelph. Most of its business, though, is with clothing retailers in the Greater Toronto Area, such as FGL Sports, Urban Planet, Factory Shoe and Bluenotes.Read More
