Emily Bland, SucSeed Social Enterprises CEO — or Seed-EO as she’s known around the office — was awarded the Satchu Prize at The Next 36 Venture Day Tuesday in Toronto.

The award is presented in recognition of outstanding performance in the The Next 36 program and a demonstrated potential to lead the country’s next generation of high-impact entrepreneurs.

The award is named after Reza Satchu, founding chair of Next 36.

SucSeed, originally started through Enactus Memorial, employs at risk youth to build small-scale hydroponic systems — a soilless, nutrient-filled plant incubator — to help communities tackle their own food security issues.
