Yevgeniy Vahlis is our Director of Applied Research and a member of Georgian Impact. In that role, he leads the development of our applied research practice, working closely with portfolio companies to overcome scientific and technological barriers by leveraging advanced research from machine learning, privacy and optimization.
Prior to joining Georgian Partners, Yevgeniy was a Senior Engineer at Amazon, where he worked on a machine learning platform in the demand forecasting organization. Prior to Amazon, Yevgeniy was Chief Cryptographer at Nymi, where he led all security components of Nymi's main identity and biometrics product, and a Senior Researcher at the AT&T Labs in New York, where he developed new machine learning methods for security, as well as privacy preserving cryptographic algorithms.
Yevgeniy holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the computer science theory group at the University of Toronto with a research focus on cryptography. After graduating from University of Toronto, Yevgeniy spent a year as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at the computer science department at Columbia University in New York.
