Rachael Vriezen

Rachael Vriezen is a second year student at the University of Guelph, majoring in International Development and Economics. In 2009 Rachael was awarded the Pamela Wallin Chancellor’s Scholarship in recognition of her leadership experience and interest in international relations. In high school, Rachael participated in mission trips to Kenya, Tanzania and Peru, and a co-op placement with the school’s Global Outreach program. More recently, she traveled to Ghana as a research assistant in a study of Ghanian micro-entrepreneurs. Rachael competed in the international DECA business competition, and she participated in the Shad Valley International program, “Reach for the Top,” and conferences related to political and social issues. In addition, Rachael was the co-founder and editor-in-chief of her high school’s newspaper. Currently, she serves as Vice President of Activities of the University of Guelph’s International Development Society, and she conduct a Supported Learning Group for first year Economics students. Rachael is also a licensed glider pilot.
